Engineering vs medicine: what Bangladeshi students ask us most

Roughly 70% of our applicants from Bangladesh are choosing between two tracks: an MD degree or an engineering bachelor’s. The comparison below is the one we walk through in every first consultation.

Medicine is a six-year commitment with tuition from $5,400 to $9,800 per year, and English-track options mean you can start without Russian. The payoff is a profession with clear registration paths back home via the BM&DC. Engineering is four years, tuition from $3,100, but most strong programmes teach in Russian — plan for a foundation year. The payoff is flexibility: Russian engineering graduates work across South Asia, the Gulf and Europe.

The honest answer to “which is better” is a question back: are you choosing a profession for life, or a strong degree to build on? Medicine is the former, engineering the latter. Neither answer is wrong — but they are different answers.
